Hello...Grand Canyon

Holiday Ro oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oad

Yes we met the challenges of the Griswalds and both my "Clark" and I decided there was more to that movie than we had ever thought. The kids were no different than ours. I did catch him looking for the red Ferrari a few times. And I do have an Aunt in Phoenix. No dog on the bumper.

For Graduation from the University of Alabama, my sweet husband took me out west. We had the best time river rafting and hiking not to mention the bartering with the Navajos. We had to drive through the reservation. The time zone difference worked well for me as I have never
been so on time for every thing.

Here is a view from the Colorado River up near Page, AZ.

The Bug and I are floating down river starting near the dam. There are two dams along the Colorado. The tour guide stated that the river would be dried up part of the year with out the dams. The water comes from the Rocky Mountains and it floods in the spring and drys up in the fall.

My parent suggested going through Sedona along the way. It was incredible.

It was freezing cold and we dealt with sleet and snow for the first two days. The elevation loomed between 5000 to 7000 feet. Brings great views of the night sky and nasty headaches do to the lack of oxygen. Yes, I am a Southern Girl. Apparently, I am more designed for the seashore.

And lastly... the kids ...It was if we had never left. They love each other everywhere we go.

Honey... Did you Buy me a car????

2007 Sonata
Fully loaded
One of my wildest dreams came true this weekend. My sweet husband purchased the number one item on my Christmas list since I was "16." A car with a big red bow.

I had no idea what he had been up to just that I noticed that I had no presents under the tree and Christmas was three days away. (Yes, I did comment to my lovely family that something needed to be done about that.) Just as the picture shows I was in disbelief and bewilderment when he lead me into the showroom. He didn't say anything and left me in a bit of a fog wondering what are we doing...Naw, he's just trying to play a joke like always. Those Fenton men, you never know what they are up to.

I got the luxury of driving the car out of the showroom. You can't see it but I was tearing up. My children fussed at me and told my that I should be thankful. I was... more than they'll ever know.

How Pretty Pickens County Can be!

My Favorite Tree

Just outside the front door of the old
house is the most beautiful oak tree.

Every fall it turns a gorgeous golden
yellow.

What a Clan!

What a great weekend!

So much fun so little time. Special thanks goes to William and Kristy for their culinary skills. Three cheers for each of you.

I believe the banana bread was a tremendous success. It will definitely be on the request list for years to come.

It was great to see everyone again. Next stop Peanut Conway.

Mom's Annual Fall Picnic Extravaganza

It's her favorite time of year. Time to prepare

Every October the Royer's have their annual fall picnic. The group has grown from the original cast of two and continues to grow. Each person has specific duties to preform. Please review the list and see assigned jobs along with the reminders section. We expect this year to be a tremendous success.

Dad: Your mission: to locate a picnic area in a reasonable distance from Atlanta in case Jenny goes into labor. Please find a table with shelter if at all possible. Rome is lovely this time of year and close by. Please bring along the key to the Rome house so we can all get a tour of the craftsmanship. We will also need chips in an assortment of flavors and paper towels.

William: THE MAIN CHEF. As per our conversation, it was decided
that the main course will be hamburgers, hotdogs, Italian sausage, and bratwurst. Don't forget to bring an apron and grilling tools along with the portable grill with propane and charcoal.

Jenny: Choose a date. Bring matches for William's grill, garbage bags, paper cups, cutting board, knife, and scrubbies.

James: Please bring the portable tailgate canopy, the marine battery, radio, and the small television. We will also need the tripod for a large family photo shoot. Bring along baked beans
and a pot for cooking them with a large serving spoon.

Jolynn: We will need to bring a veggie platter with dip. Condiments such as mustard and ketchup in squeeze bottles are needed. Bring paper plates, utensils, and hand sanitizer also.

Lisa: Please bring blankets, a cooler, and buns for the hamburgers and hotdogs. We will also need brownies, and onions and tomatoes for the burgers.

Johanna: Napkins

Harris: Lovies

Philip: Entertainment

Jeff: Drinks in assorted flavors. Call Jeremy and see what he is bringing.

Little James: bring along some footballs, frisbees, gloves and baseballs.

Grant: Bring along baseball gloves also.

Thomas: Bring fishing poles. Usually there is a lake nearby.

Mom: We will need coolers and blankets. Please research the area for a location that provides pumpkins for the children to pick out along with a large basket of apples to be divided up between everyone. All the better if they sell apple butter. Please also bring foil, ziploc bags, can opener, liquid soap, and 409 cleaner.

Jeremy: The picnic will need drinks and Kristy. Please bring lots of bottled water along with diet and regular coke and pepsi. Bailey is welcome to come. Mom will have coolers if you need extra.

Kristy: We will need desserts. You are welcome to choose what we will have. Mom has Jeremy's four boxes of frozen cookie dough in her freezer to use if you like.

Just a reminder to everyone:

1. Bring cash as some of the food stands do not except checks and credit cards.
2. Bring warm clothing just in case.
3. Everyone needs to bring folding chairs for their family members.
4. CAMERAS!
5. Blankets and towels.
6. Someone can bring the cornhole game if it will fit in the vehicle.
7. Other games are also welcomed.
8. Bring ideas for the Christmas gift exchange to discuss.

Past Events:
Jenny's baby shower was a great success. Thanks to everyone who helped make this event the best it could be. It was wonderful to see everyone there at the house. Great job for all your hard work Johanna. You have great ideas. Jenny is well prepared for their new baby in waiting. Jenny was pretty as a picture.

Thomas's BIG 13th Birthday was so much fun. It's hard to believe we have a teenager in the family again. Everyone had a wonderful time seeing all of Lisa's brothers and their girls. They have grown so much. Wasn't that Rose too cute.

Other Upcoming Events include:

October 13th: USM homecoming game
November 22nd: Happy Thanksgiving
November 23rd: Happy shopping day
November 25th: Jenny's Baby?
December 25th: Gift exchange.
December 31st: New Year's Eve Marathon... Let the games begin.
